At lunch on November 6, 2002 every table at Restaurant Daniel in Manhattan had a its own theme, white roses to celebrate weddings, red ones for Valentine's Day, balloons for birthdays, dreidels and candy for the December holidays, a mortar board for graduations and different decorations appropriate for special celebrations. Relais & Chateaux and Leading Hotels of the World announced the launch of a gift certificate program and the centerpieces illustrated the many occasions for which the certificates could be used as gifts.

The Relais & Chateau certificates can be purchased in USD 50 or 100 and 75, 150 and 250 euros. The ones from Leading Hotels are offered at USD 50, 100 and 500. All certificates are good for two years and can be used at the more than 800 member properties of both groups. Certificates are redeemable for meals, accommodations, spa treatments and gift shop purchases.
